RobbySimps44 turned only the second start of an IMS career into a first victory, moving from P3 to P1 for Williams in Silverstone's D3 race.
Nexoh S1mple rose from P6 to finish second for Alpine, while pole-sitter Webbah87 completed the podium for McLaren in third.
One reconnaissance run, then the breakthrough
Las Vegas had been the whole résumé before Silverstone: one D3 start, two points and no podium. The second line of it changed every category that matters, adding a win, a podium and 25 points in one stroke.
The record had opened one round earlier at Las Vegas with two points and a ninth-place finish. Silverstone lifted the two-start totals to one win, one podium and 27 points, all with Williams in D3.
Williams gets an answer from the second row
The contrast could hardly be neater: one exploratory appearance, then a two-place gain and victory. Williams did not have to wait long for its new arrival to supply an answer.
There was no sprawling back catalogue to reinterpret, just a very short before and after. RobbySimps44 arrived at Silverstone as a one-race prospect and left it as an IMS winner.
