VCARB moved to the top of the E2 constructors' standings after Spa with 106 points, six ahead of Ferrari. It did so without winning the race: BBLDRiZZY6523 finished second from pole behind sirspinsal0t.
Ferrari had the winner and VCARB had the championship lead. That split is the point of the result, not an inconvenience to be smoothed into another generic claim about form.
P2 carries four rounds with it
A race classification measures one event; a constructor table measures the accumulated season. BBLDRiZZY6523's second place added to VCARB's earlier work and proved sufficient to move the team ahead even as Ferrari took P1.
Tedoi6974's third place maintained the drivers' lead on 66 points for Aston Martin. Spa thus divided the leading E2 honours among three teams: Ferrari won, Aston Martin led the drivers and VCARB led the constructors.
Six points is control with conditions
VCARB's advantage was real and narrow. A six-point lead created a target for Zandvoort-R, not immunity from it, especially with Ferrari having just supplied the latest winner.
The clean reading of Spa is therefore pleasantly awkward: VCARB lost the race and took the lead. Championship reporting is better when it keeps both halves.
