Jan started 12th in Singapore's E3 race and finished third for McLaren, gaining nine places. No other driver on the podium travelled nearly as far through the order.
NesbiLeGrand won from second for Ferrari and OnlineGuy99 advanced from third to second for Williams. Their combined gain was two positions; Jan alone gained nine.
The final step carries the longest journey
A third place can disappear beneath the winner's headline, especially when that winner also leads the championship. The grid comparison prevents that here: P12 to P3 was the podium's defining recovery.
NesbiLeGrand left on 93 points, 36 ahead of geo2002. Jan's result did not alter the recorded leading pair, but it gave McLaren a tangible route into an E3 story otherwise dominated by Ferrari names.
McLaren finds a result from the sixth row
The value was not abstract. Starting outside the top ten and finishing inside the top three changed nine positions into a trophy, a result that could be read directly from the grid and classification.
Singapore belonged to NesbiLeGrand at the front, but Jan supplied the result that travelled furthest. The E3 podium had room for both the championship leader and the weekend's biggest climber.
