Williams reached the true Season 7 halfway point first in BOTT on 851 points, 307 ahead of Red Bull and 310 ahead of Aston Martin after six of 12 rounds.
That scale was absent in Texas. Red Bull left the opener on 167 points to Williams' 120, making the six-round swing 354 points: from 47 behind to 307 ahead.
Australia turns control into separation
Williams scored 185 points in Round 6, 67 more than Aston Martin and 108 more than Red Bull. Two wins sat inside seven podiums and seven top-five finishes, so Australia rewarded both the sharp end and the depth behind it.
Red Bull's advantage over Williams fell from 47 points after Texas to 12 after Austria and one after Great Britain. Las Vegas flipped the order to a 118-point Williams lead; Belgium stretched it to 199, and Australia to 307.
Second place is separated by three points
The fight immediately behind Williams could hardly be tighter. Red Bull held 544 points and Aston Martin 541, leaving the contest for second smaller than the leader's advantage by a factor of more than 100.
The driver championships reached halfway in five different conditions: D2 and D4 were separated by two points, D3 by 16, D1 by 55 and D0 by 81. The calendar is halfway complete; the pressure is not evenly distributed.
Six rounds remain to change the shape
Qatar and Azerbaijan begin the return half before Japan, Monza, Abu Dhabi and Brazil. Williams has built enough room to absorb a poor weekend; Red Bull and Aston Martin have no such luxury against each other.
