Williams are in the driver's seat but Zozo and Turnip disappear

A twenty-one-point advantage over Aston Martin gives Zopz room to work, but Texas currently calls for a different D0 pairing and a new answer alongside Brystaroz in E3.

Williams have taken the BOTT lead just in time to discover how much of it their depth can protect. Zozo is currently checked out of Texas after supplying thirty-one of their thirty-five D0 points, while Turnip has resigned from the E3 seat that produced two-thirds of their score in that division.

Zopz’s team lead Aston Martin 279–258, with Cadillac on 221. The Spain verdicts widened a three-point advantage to twenty-one. Useful breathing room, certainly, but two substantial contributions now need replacing.

E3 loses its larger contribution

Turnip leaves with thirty-two E3 points to Brystaroz’s sixteen. His resignation takes effect for round three and carries a two-race suspension covering Texas and round four. Williams retain the points he earned, but the current regular line-up has an empty seat beside Brystaroz.

The current Texas check-in lists Malachi alongside Brystaroz, replacing the name is the immediate win. Replacing thirty-two points in two rounds is a much harder standard to meet.

Zopz and demaiko are the current D0 pairing

D0 presents a different kind of change. Zozo remains a Williams regular, but is marked Not Racing for Texas, with Zopz and demaiko currently listed to drive. The winning contribution is missing from the intended line-up, rather than the team’s contract list.

There is still a strong centre to the squad. Webbah and HP, jhazztan and pwjones, and ximqf and Trident are all currently checked in across D1, D2 and D3. Those divisions have supplied constructors’ totals of sixty-two, seventy-two and sixty-two points respectively. Williams need that established group to sustain its return while the other pairings change.

Ahead of Spain, Zopz said: “I have full confidence in my lineup, d0 through e3.” The test to score across divisions has since become a lead to defend. Texas will show how far that confidence extends beyond the drivers who built it.
