Jakebandy8 won the first IMS D2 race from pole in Brazil, taking 25 points for McLaren. Ranga20063239 followed from second on the grid and Lasrgamer06 advanced from fourth to third.
The three podium routes were unusually orderly for an inaugural classification: first stayed first, second stayed second and the final podium place changed by one position. D2 began with a result that needed no invented drama to make it consequential.
Seven points create the first D2 chase
The opening standings placed Jake on 25 points and Ranga on 18. That seven-point separation was not a trend yet; it was the first number against which every later exchange between them would be measured.
McLaren did not lead the parallel constructors' table. Mercedes held 26 points to McLaren's 25, so Jake left Brazil as the leading driver in D2 while his team began one point behind.
One pole win, two different tables
That split gave the victory two uses. Individually, it installed Jake as D2's first leader; collectively, it left McLaren chasing a Mercedes score assembled across the field.
Monza came next with Jake ahead of Ranga and McLaren behind Mercedes. IMS's second division had existed for one race and already had two arguments instead of one.
