TheMekanic17 secured the Season 1 D1 championship with third place at Spa. His 124 points left him 49 ahead of Lups3252 with one round remaining—more than the maximum 31-point individual score recorded at the finale.
Thalo4 won the race from third on the grid, beating pole-sitter piastrigoat and TheMekanic. Spa divided the honours cleanly: the first-place trophy and the season title went to different drivers.
A podium is enough because six rounds came first
TheMekanic had reached Spa after three wins and repeated podium scoring. Third added 16 points, while Lups's total moved only to 75. The title was settled by accumulation, not by requiring the final race to provide theatre on demand.
Red Bull's D1 constructor lead was less secure: 150 points to Mercedes' 136. One championship had closed; the parallel team contest still carried 14 points into Austria.
Thalo keeps his own late-season line moving
Thalo's first IMS win came by moving from third to first, while piastrigoat fell one place from pole and TheMekanic lost one from second. The grid changed just enough to give the race its own winner beside the new champion.
Spa denied the finale one D1 title decider, but it supplied the stronger historical distinction: the first IMS D1 champion was known before the final grid formed.
