Kangaroo1205 won Japan's D2 race from P2, beating pole-sitter ForestalWaif1 to the final chequered flag of Season 2. Forestal's second place still supplied 31 points and completed the campaign first in D2 on 275.
The final margin over PerfectPaulie88 was 70 points. More revealing than its size was its duration: Forestal had occupied the lead after every round from Round 2 to Round 11.
Japan refuses to become a victory lap
The finale belonged to Kangaroo1205, who gained one place and scored 36 points for Williams. Forestal moved from P1 to P2 for VCARB, while FTR Button advanced from fourth to third for Mercedes and scored 30.
That distinction matters. A season profile should not steal the race winner's afternoon: Forestal did not win Japan. The achievement completed there was the standings campaign, not an undefeated march or a finale triumph.
A lead that expands, contracts and survives
Forestal's advantage was two points after Round 2, reached 24 one round later and briefly slipped from 24 to 23. It grew as high as 51, fell back to 42 after Baku, then closed 51, 58 and 70 across Brazil, Australia and Japan.
The season also contained one sharp change of scale: at Brazil, Forestal started P2 and won the D1 race for 35 points. Japan's P2 was less spectacular and more definitive. It put the last 31 points onto a D2 total that had been setting the pace for ten consecutive rounds.
