Websey finished second from pole in Hungary and returned to the D1 championship lead on 48 points, eight ahead of TheJoshW1. Red Bull also moved back atop the constructors on 69, eight clear of Ferrari.
Jonno won the race for Mercedes from P3, with Woolie MD third from P7. The classification therefore rewarded one driver with victory and another with control of both championship narratives around his team.
Eight points appears twice
Websey's advantage over TheJoshW1 and Red Bull's advantage over Ferrari were both eight points. That numerical echo aligned tables that Austria had split between a Haas driver and Ferrari's constructors.
The recovery of the leads did not require Websey to win. P2 supplied enough points because championships respond to accumulated totals, not only the identity on the top step.
Jonno adds a new pressure point
