NesbiLeGrand gained three places from P4 to win in Mexico, reaching five IMS victories only six starts after the first.
Ferrari team-mate zoolander83 moved from P7 to second, while OnlineGuy99 advanced from P5 to third for Williams.
The long wait gives way to a short climb
NesbiLeGrand needed 28 starts to win for the first time. Only six further eligible starts were required to reach five, taking the record to 34 starts, 14 podiums and 602 points.
The Silverstone debut for Aston Martin was now four seasons and 34 starts distant. By Mexico, NesbiLeGrand's record across D3, E2, D2 and E3 included five wins, 14 podiums, two poles, one fastest lap and 602 points.
P4 cannot slow the new conversion rate
The milestone's defining number is not only five. It is six: the number of starts required to travel from a long-delayed first win to a total that suddenly looked habitual.
Mexico did more than add another trophy. It confirmed that Bahrain had not been a release valve for one isolated night; it had opened a run that rewrote the shape of the career.
