Kyotonic moved from P2 to win Austria's D2 race for Williams, making the 10th IMS start both a first podium and first victory.
Schokolade climbed from P9 to second for Audi and Lord DabFoot gained five places to put Cadillac third.
Nine starts without the top three
Kyotonic reached Austria with nine starts, 85 points and no podium after spells with Aston Martin, Williams and McLaren across D2 and E2. Start 10 supplied 30 points and the complete breakthrough.
The record began with Aston Martin in Australia during Season 6 and subsequently included Williams and McLaren across D2 and E2. By Austria, 10 starts had produced one win, one podium and 115 points.
One place changes the career's proportions
Only one grid position separated Kyotonic from the front, but nine winless, podium-free starts sat behind it. Moving that single place changed the scale of the entire career.
The move from P2 to P1 was only one position on the classification. Against the nine-start history behind it, that single place was enormous.
