JDJT3593 won Azerbaijan's D4 race from sixth on the grid, with championship leader Higosh second after starting from pole. The Williams one-two reduced the drivers' standings gap to five points.
Higosh retained first in the table on 158 points, but JDJT reached 153. McBeth655 finished third for Red Bull from second on the grid.
Sixth becomes first; first becomes second
The grid-to-finish comparison contains the whole championship mechanism. JDJT gained five positions to win, while Higosh lost one to finish second. Their team identity stayed the same; the order of its two title contenders reversed.
Williams collected 54 points from the two finishers and reinforced a D4 constructors' lead already standing at 125 points. The team had little reason to dislike the result; its drivers had every reason to read it differently.
The next round inherits a five-point contest
Japan was scheduled next as Round 9. Higosh would arrive as the leader and JDJT as the most recent winner, separated by less than the value of an ordinary finishing-place swing.
Azerbaijan gave Williams the comfortable part—a one-two—and the awkward part—a championship fight compressed inside its own garage. Five points ensured both truths travelled onward.
