TheMekanic17 won Monza D1 after starting fourth, gaining three places for his first IMS victory. SomaticCoast375 finished second from sixth and jakebandy8 completed the podium from 16th.
TheMekanic entered Monza second in the drivers' table. Twenty-five points for victory lifted him from 18 to 43 and carried him into first place.
The nearest challenger is now nine points back
Somatic's second consecutive podium moved the Ferrari driver to 34 points, nine behind TheMekanic. Opening winner Mehinovic00 no longer occupied either of the top two positions in the supplied table.
The shift was more than a winner replacing another winner. TheMekanic already carried 18 points into Monza; the victory added 25 and turned an existing title position into the championship lead.
Red Bull turns a tie into seventeen points
Red Bull and Mercedes had been level on 26 D1 constructor points before Monza. The round left Red Bull first on 51 and Mercedes second on 34, a 17-point separation created in one meeting.
The first Mystery Race therefore approached with TheMekanic leading the drivers and Red Bull leading the teams. Monza had not settled D1; it had identified the pair everyone else now had to dislodge.
