Lups3252 rose from sixth on the Silverstone D1 grid to finish second, securing his first IMS podium for Williams. Mehinovic00 won and SleekMover completed the top three.
The four-place recovery earned 18 points and did more than decorate Lups's season. It lifted him from third to second in the D1 standings.
Nineteen points now cover first and second
TheMekanic17 remained the championship leader on 83 points despite scoring zero in the round. Lups advanced from 46 to 64 and became the nearest challenger, 19 points back.
The podium did not make Lups the Silverstone winner; it made his position in the wider season newly important. A first top-three finish and a first appearance in the championship top two arrived together.
Williams wins the round by six points
Williams led the combined BOTT standings on 61 points, six ahead of McLaren. Its five starts produced one win, two podiums and three top-five finishes, with Lups supplying the D1 runner-up result.
Abu Dhabi would test whether second place in the table had permanence. Silverstone had already made the question legitimate, which was more than Lups could claim before his charge from sixth.
