piastrigoat climbed from P8 to third in Spain and took 24 points out of Websey's D1 championship advantage. Websey still led on 127 points, with Jonno nearest on 112.
Techubi won from pole and Jonno advanced from P5 to second. Red Bull retained the constructors' lead on 222 points, 33 ahead of Mercedes.
A five-place recovery changes someone else's margin
piastrigoat was not the nearest challenger after Spain, yet the recorded 24-point swing belonged to the VCARB driver. Jonno's second place positioned him 15 behind, separating the source of the swing from the driver best placed in the table.
As in D3, the round resisted a tidy two-name summary. Techubi won, piastrigoat cut the leader's advantage and Jonno became the immediate championship reference.
Fifteen points precede China
Websey carried the lead to China, but the gap had become vulnerable to one large score. Jonno's position in second and piastrigoat's Spanish swing supplied two different forms of pressure.
Spain's lasting D1 number was 15, not 24: the latter described the round's relative change, while the former described the championship gap China would actually inherit.
