Carlos Velez climbed from eighth on the Canada D2 grid to finish third, earning a first IMS podium for Alpine. FTR Button won from second and ForestalWaif1 took second from fourth.
Five positions made Carlos the largest mover among the podium finishers. The 21-point result sat behind two higher scores but covered more ground than either of them.
Alpine's only podium supports 76 points
Alpine scored 76 BOTT points from eight starts, with one podium and two top-five finishes. Carlos supplied the podium and more than a quarter of the total.
The team did not enter the round's top three, which began with Ferrari on 154, Aston Martin on 117 and McLaren on 107. Carlos's breakthrough was a sharp result inside a broader midfield score.
Forestal leaves 24 points clear
Forestal's second place lifted the VCARB driver to 74 points, 24 ahead of race winner Button on 50. Carlos entered the season's podium list without entering the supplied top-two championship frame.
Hungary came next. Carlos had turned the lowest podium grid position into Alpine's highest Canada finish, which is a sufficiently complete story without borrowing the title lead.
