FTR Button won Spa's D2 race from seventh on the grid, returning to the IMS top step for the first time since Season 2 Round 5. Opts Tryhard finished second from P13 and ctxVincent third from P6.
The comeback victory did not immediately dislodge HPJones, who led D2 on 67 points after four rounds, 15 ahead of JPlanteX. VCARB led the constructors by seven over Ferrari.
Six places and nearly two seasons
The two verified measures give the win its shape. FTR gained six positions within Spa's classification and bridged a career interval stretching back to Season 2 Round 5. One number describes the race result; the other restores its historical scale.
No retained lap sequence explains the recovery, so the result should not be dressed up with imagined overtakes or strategy. P7 became P1, and a driver absent from the winners' list for almost two seasons returned to it.
A victory enters a live championship
HPJones still owned the championship lead, but Spa added FTR Button to the season's active winning cast. That mattered before Zandvoort-R because D2 now had a proven result from outside its leading points pair.
The return was therefore both retrospective and current: a drought ended, a six-place win was recorded and the next round received a fresh variable rather than another familiar winner.
Career ledger for FTR Button: win number 5
For FTR Button, career start 21 gave FTR Button a 5th IMS victory at Spa. Through that flag, FTR Button had 5 wins, 10 podiums, 1 poles, 3 fastest laps and 377 points across S1, S2, S3, S4. Below, Spa stays in FTR Button's season table.
