HPJones won the China D2 race from fourth on the grid, taking a first IMS victory since Season 4 Round 11.

John Marco finished second for McLaren after starting on pole, with MagMagnussen climbing from P10 to third for Aston Martin.

Three places end the victory wait

HPJones passed three grid positions to reach first, while the pole-sitter fell one place and MagMagnussen gained seven. The return win landed inside a podium shaped by contrasting movement.

The same round also placed HPJones third in E2 after starting fifth. John Marco won that race from pole, giving McLaren two positions in the top three.

Two divisions, two different McLaren roles

In D2, HPJones displaced a team-mate to win; in E2, HPJones supported a team-mate's victory from third. The results share a driver without repeating the same achievement.

China therefore turns the end of a win wait into a broader contribution: one returned victory, one additional podium and two parts of McLaren's 248-point weekend.
