Piastrigoat won the Azerbaijan D0 race from pole for Ferrari and moved from fourth to second in the drivers' standings.
The 31-point return took Piastrigoat to 102. Cloud added 15 to reach 197, reducing the leader's advantage from 111 points to 95.
A new name in second
The championship did not become close, but its pursuit changed. Piastrigoat gained two table positions and 16 points on Cloud in one round, replacing Karl Verghese as the nearest listed challenger.
Demaiko finished second from second for Williams. XAQxFr climbed from sixth to third, giving Ferrari two cars on the D0 podium.
Ferrari doubles the podium return
Piastrigoat's win and xAQxFr's third place put Ferrari at both ends of the podium. One car converted pole; the other supplied the largest top-three grid gain.
Azerbaijan did not erase Cloud's cushion; it gave the chase a pulse and a different protagonist. Ninety-five points remained, but the weekend had removed 16 and promoted the driver doing the removing.
