JPThaJoker rose from tenth on the Hungary D3 grid to finish third and secure a first IMS podium for VCARB. RobbySimps44 won from pole, with qwAsey reet second from 15th.
Seven places separated JPThaJoker's starting slot from the final podium position. It was a substantial recovery in its own right, even on a classification containing qwAsey's 13-place charge.
P15 and P10 converge on the podium
The two non-winning podium finishers started 15th and tenth, then finished second and third. Together, qwAsey and JPThaJoker recovered 20 positions while Robby held first from pole.
JPThaJoker's 20 points also formed part of a VCARB round containing two podiums and four top-five finishes. The team scored 89 points from seven starts despite taking no victory.
The title lead becomes a dead heat
Robby's win brought him level with Her Wet Cat on 76 points at the top of D3. JPThaJoker's breakthrough therefore arrived in a race that also removed the championship leader's points advantage.
Portugal followed with the D3 title tied and JPThaJoker newly added to the season's podium finishers. Hungary gave VCARB a result worth keeping separate from the championship argument unfolding ahead.
