Brodsta4hire won Hungary's D2 race from P2 and claimed a first IMS victory. HPJones finished second from pole, while tofo17 climbed eleven places from P14 to complete the podium.
Second place moved HPJones to the championship lead on 53 points, one ahead of JPlanteX. VCARB likewise led the constructors on 74, with Brodsta's Aston Martin only one point back.
The winner changes; the margins vanish
Brodsta4hire became D2's latest winner, yet the post-race tables belonged to two separate one-point gaps. HPJones led the drivers; VCARB led the teams. Aston Martin's victory brought it almost level without putting either championship first.
tofo17's P14-to-P3 result supplied the classification's other striking number. The official order does not explain eleven gained places, but it shows that Hungary's podium was assembled from three very different starting positions.
Spa receives a contest with no spare point
JPlanteX had led after the opening two rounds; HPJones now led by one after Hungary. Brodsta4hire had added a new winner to the equation, while Aston Martin sat one point from VCARB in the constructor fight.
That was Hungary's D2 legacy before Spa: a maiden winner, an eleven-place podium recovery and two championship tables separated by the minimum useful margin.
