Jak75421 won the Austria D3 race from tenth on the grid, gaining nine positions to record a first IMS victory since Season 4 Round 9.

The recovery led an unusually mobile podium. Fredrumguit climbed from P12 to P2 and jazzy-draught9 from P8 to P3.

The return begins outside the top half

Jak's route covered nine places, one fewer than Fredrumguit's ten-place ascent but with the decisive difference at the flag: the Williams finished first.

Victory supplied 30 points and the first D3 championship lead. Fredrumguit's second place was worth 23, leaving seven between them.

Williams leaves with more than the win

Jak's result was one of two Williams victories inside a five-podium, 169-point weekend. The team led the opening BOTT table by 54 points over VCARB.

For D3, the headline is more personal: a driver who had not won since Season 4 began the new campaign by passing nine grid places and taking the first lead.
